What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy or physio, involves the treatment of injuries, illnesses, and disabilities that affect movement and exercise. It often encompasses rehabilitation, treatment and prevention of injury, as well as health and fitness education. It is a regulated, evidence-based health profession in Canada.

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals trained in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic conditions related to the body and physical movement. They often treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions including soft tissue injuries, muscle strains, nerve impingements, pre and post-surgical rehab, concussions, and ligament sprains to name a few.

Our physiotherapists will work with you to assess and identify the root cause of your injury or pain, and create a personalized treatment plan. During treatment sessions, we use various hands-on manual therapy techniques, modalities (such as ultrasound, muscle stimulation, sports taping, and acupuncture), and therapeutic exercises. Our physiotherapists pride ourselves in providing quality one-on-one care that is personalized, specific, and goal-oriented.
